Welcome New Sookmyungians!: The 2018 Haeoreum Festival

From March 6 to 8, the 2018 Haeoreum Festival was held under the supervision of the Student Council.  Haeoreum Festival, a tradition at university town, welcomes newcomers to university and represents the opening of the school year.  Sookmyung Women’s University’s 2018 Haeoreum Festival ran from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on campus I, with participating unit of the Student Council, central school clubs, and leadership groups.  The Student Council opened a booth in front of the Student Union Building to distribute 2018 school diaries and deliver joint purchase.  Central school clubs and various leadership groups set up booths along the Queen Sunheon crossroad to attract new recruits and promote their activities.  On March 8, there was a staged performance from 2:30 p.m. in Central Square.  Students were invited to watch various styles of singers, dancers, cheer leading and samulnori performance.  The day was filled with excitement and joy.  Choi Seoyeon, Business Administration ’17, a 2018 Haeoreum Festival participant and Head of AIESEC said, “The 2018 Haeoreum Festival greatly aided club recruitment and promotion.  Allowing clubs to open booths collectively along the crossroad frequently passed by students made it possible to actively interaction and meet first year Sookmyungians.”  The 2018 Haeoreum Festival positively affected the mood of senior students as well.  Nam Yoojung, Political Science and International Relations ’17, said “Getting to know which clubs and leadership groups are operating at our school was meaningful.  It would be a great opportunity for first year students to join in activities outside of the classroom that may help their future road map.  Also, the performances on stage were spectacular and uplifted the mood of all students not just first years.”
