On September 1, 2017, students who got accepted to law schools this year were invited as speakers for ‘Meeting with Students Who Passed the 2017 Law School Admissions’, held in the Veritas Building. They shared and detailed their admission stories to students who are planning to apply to law schools in the future. All attendees were students of the College of Law except two students who are currently majoring in other fields. The focus was on writing good letters of introduction, choosing a law school that would best fit each one’s situation and desire, and interview preparation. Useful tips were given such as the fact that professors of some schools favor those with certificates of foreign languages. Students also talked about their personal experiences and thoughts. One of the speakers who chose to attend a national university in the provinces said, “Although leaving Seoul and away from city life can be a tough decision to make, it is definitely not a bad choice if you are wanting to see a bigger world outside your comfort zone.” The event began at 5:30 p.m. and ended at 7:30 p.m., and it was followed by a question and answer session. Overall, the event was comparatively quiet as students discussed seriously throughout the two hours. It was clearly shown that the attendees were truly passionate about their path towards the study of law as their eyes twinkled with excitement listening and talking about law school. Upper classmen’s sincerity and dedication for their juniors well showed the amicable senior-junior relationship of Sookmyungians.
