On March 29th Samsung Electronics presented its latest smartphone Galaxy S8 in the U.S. market. It was met with favorable appraisal that could rival Apple’s latest product release which celebrates Apple’s 10th anniversary of the iPhone. Intense competition is expected this year in the smartphone market. Samsung Electronics launches its Galaxy S8 in hopes of overcoming the disastrous blow to its reputation from the failed Galaxy Note S7. Samsung Electronics spokesperson said, “Galaxy S8 is proof of Samsung consumer trust and is a step forward in the legacy of Samsung’s smartphone.” Galaxy S8 uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 as AP, which is said to be the best chipset part in existence. AP operates like a brain and is similar to a computer CPU. In terms of artificial intelligence (AI), voice recognition, and biometrics, this Galaxy is well advanced. Galaxy S8’s AI voice assistant, Bixby, understands Korean and has the ability to repeat input back to the user in order to confirm understanding. Bixby can also accept input not just through voice command, but also through touch, images, and a combination of the aforesaid methods. Galaxy S8 also has seen Galaxy progress in its iris and face recognition functions. However, Galaxy S8 is not without weaknesses, the first being its display. While Galaxy S8’s dual edge display is sleek in design, it has cognition error. It is especially susceptible to external stimulation. It is also slightly bigger than the IPhone 7 Plus at 5.8 inches compared to 5.5 inches. Other strength is bigger display by bezel-less design. The new-to-be released iPhone 8 will also apply a bezel-less design. Moreover, Apple’s new product, coming to markets in the fall, is said to be very different from iPhone 7. Experts predict Apple’s new product will have a new display, wireless charging, facial recognition, and other features. Galaxy S8 is scheduled for release on April 21 in both Korea and the U.S.A, so Samsung Electronics is already started accepting pre-orders for its Galaxy S8 on April 7th to 17th.
