URI, Sookmyung’s global buddy group, greeted exchange students at the 2017 Spring Semester Welcome Party. The event took place on March 10th at Samsung Convention Hall and was conducted by the Center for International Affairs. The Center for International Affairs and URI provided participants various programs and events. Foreign exchange students and URI members sat around a table and got to know each other better. Participants also enjoyed games aimed at forming bonds among them. Time was spent playing quiz games based on Sookmyung Women’s University knowledge, and other games. Through the games, participants formed friendships that will last their entire time at Sookmyung. Sarah Seohyun Kong, Head of URI and a student in the Department of Child Welfare & Studies’ 14, said, “The event enabled exchange students and URI club members to get better acquainted. It also was the second of many events to take place throughout the semester.” All participants enjoyed the event. Kadiatou Diallo, a foreign exchange student in the Department of Political Science and International Relations, said, “The event is wonderful. I am having so much fun. I learnt a lot of words in English that I didn’t know before, and I met a lot of new friends!” Welcome Party is a chance for making new friendships and is the starting point for life at Sookmyung as an exchange student.
